The S.5. "Hoi Tin", trading between Canton and Suí
Tung, one of the fow vessels engaged in the local river
trade remaining under the British flag, was transferred
on July 17th. to a Chinese Company. The transfer was
immediately followed by the dimissal of the British
Captain who had commanded her for over five years.
Five steam launches and one steamer of 280 tons have
also been transferred to the Chinese flag during the past
